We’re finally here!
After months of negotiations and careful planning, MS Action finally moved into the Marjorie Collins Centre on 2ndDecember. A massive thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, with particular thanks to Diana and Keith who organised the physical move which went very smoothly and without a hitch.
We are all starting to make new friends and trying out some of the new activities that are on offer. It will take us all some time to get to know everyone and what goes on, but it feels very exciting with lots of potential to make Marjorie Collins an even more fabulous place fo people with MS.
Ifyou still haven’t been to Marjorie Collins, why not come along to the Christmas Party on Tuesday 17thDecember at 12.30?
Over the next few months, we’ll be showcasing some of the amazing staff, volunteers, therapists and members who all help make Marjorie Collins so wonderful.
Update on Oxygen Chamber
The building work is ready to house the new chamber but, unfortunately ,the equipment won’t be delivered and ready for operation until the third week of January 2025. We understand how disappointing this will be, particularly for people who are part way through a course of sessions, and we are in regular contact with the suppliers to try to speed things up. As soon as we have a firm date when sessions can be booked. We will let everybody know.
On a positive note, our existing masks are compatible with the new fittings so there will be no need to buy a new mask

MARJORIE COLLINS PEOPLE
Our Office Manager, Diana
People at MS Action will already know Diana, our hard-working Office Manager. Diana will be dealing with day to day admin work that is needed to keep Marjorie Collins working effectively, including dealing with all enquiries, signing up new members, taking payments and making appointments for the therapies. Diana is based in ther eception area, so do give her a wave when you next visit the Centre.
Our Incredible Volunteers, Caroline and Sue
Dealing with bureaucracy and completing all of the forms needed to get help can be difficult for anyone, but it can be even more difficult for people with MS who may have problems writing or properly explainingt heir disability.
Thisis where Sue and Caroline come in. They have helped many Marjorie Collins members with applying for Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Employment Support Allowance and even successfully appealing when applications have been unfairly rejected.
Spotlight on Kiran and Yoga
Kiran offers a range of accessible yoga classes on a Thursday at Marjorie Collins including floor and chair-based yoga (see timetable above). Kran has experience of teaching people with Multiple Sclerosis and can adapt his sessions for a range of disabilities.
Kiran’s floor yoga is based on ‘yin yoga’ which is deeply relaxing and slow paced. Studies have found yin yoga to have a significant impacton lowering stress and anxiety and reducing the risk of depression. ‘Often I fall asleep when receiving this session.’
Ify ou want to improve your flexibility, reduce stress and improvecirculation, why not give it a try?
