1. INTRODUCTION
MS Action - Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy

At MS Action, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We believe that everyone, regardless of their background or identity, should have equal access to opportunities, resources, and support. This policy sets out our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, discrimination is prohibited, and all individuals are treated with respect and fairness. It also serves as a guide to ensure that all employees, volunteers, and stakeholders understand our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion and actively contribute to creating a fair and inclusive environment for all.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, committee members and trustees, members and associates, beneficiaries, and stakeholders of MS Action. It covers all aspects of our operations, including recruitment, training, promotion, service delivery, and decision-making processes.
Policy Statement
Equality:
a. We value and respect the diversity of individuals and are committed to treating all employees, volunteers, and beneficiaries fairly and without discrimination.
b. We will ensure that our policies, practices, and procedures promote equality of opportunity and prevent any form of discrimination, harassment, victimisation, or unfair treatment.
c. We will regularly review our policies and practices to identify and address any potential barriers to equality and take appropriate action to eliminate them.
Diversity:
a. We celebrate and embrace the diversity of our workforce, volunteers, beneficiaries, and stakeholders, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, and socio-economic background.
b. We recognize the benefits of diversity, which include improved creativity, innovation, and effectiveness, and we actively seek to create a culture that values and harnesses diverse perspectives.
Inclusion:
a. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to our aims and values.
b. We will actively challenge any forms of discrimination, bias, or exclusion and promote an atmosphere of openness, collaboration, and mutual support.
c. We will provide reasonable accommodations and support to ensure that individuals with disabilities can fully participate in our activities and access our services.
Responsibilities
The Committee is responsible for ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of this policy. Managers are responsible for promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within their team and addressing any concerns or issues promptly. All employees, volunteers, and stakeholders have a responsibility to treat others with respect and contribute to a positive and inclusive working environment. Any breaches of this policy should be reported through the appropriate channels, and appropriate action will be taken, including disciplinary, removal from the Committee or withdrawal of membership in more serious cases.
Training and Awareness
MS Action will provide training and awareness to ensure that all individuals associated with the Charity understand their rights and responsibilities under this policy.
Review and Update
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness or when there are changes in legislation or best practices. Any updates will be communicated to all individuals associated with MS Action.
